Thank you to Harriett Coryell, the great grand daughter of L.O. Shaffer.
On Saturday May 19, 2012 Coryell donated many new photographs and
objects related to the Shaffers and Altoona's second longest serving
mayor Heller. Members are currently working on sorting the artifacts and
soon have them on display at the museum. Check back here or on our
facebook Page for updates on these artifacts and many other projects
underway at the museum.
Altoona Area Historical Society Vice President Alex Payne and Treasurer Barb Bolt are pictured with Prairie Meadows officials at the Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grants Luncheon May 16, 2012. Also present but not pictured, collections staff member David Coates.
Thank you to former congressman Neal Smith for stopping by the museum for a tour and posing with our display honoring the work of the longest-serving Iowan in the United States House of Representatives. Smith represented Iowa from 1959 until 1995.
